About

Cleonie Hedgin

Cleonie Hedgin, originally from Jamaica, is a poet whose journey is as inspiring as her writings. As the fifth child in her family, she migrated to Canada in 2013. With a BSc in Business Administration from Northern Caribbean University, Cleonie initially worked as an accountant. Her move to Canada marked a new chapter, volunteering and studying to become a nurse. Her experiences in accounting and nursing and her work with the CAMH Centre for Addiction and Mental Health deeply influence her poetic voice. Cleonie’s poetry is a reflection of her resilience, compassion, and the challenges she has faced and overcome.
